George H. Hughes, CPA
George Hughes, one of the firms tax principals,
has over 16 years experience in public accounting, and has
been with DeLap White Caldwell & Croy, LLP since 1994.
He works primarily with owners of closely-held businesses
and start-ups, offering guidance in tax, financial and succession
matters. He has special expertise in tax credits, including
Oregon Business Energy Tax Credits. The businesses he works
with are in several industries, including high technology,
renewable energy, construction, and professional services.
George is a member of the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants and the Oregon Society of Certified Public
Accountants. He is Treasurer of the Construction Financial
Management Association, on the Board of the non-profit Trauma
Intervention Program of Portland/Vancouver, and active with
the Austin Family Business Program of Oregon State University.
He has also held leadership positions in the Software Association
of Oregon, the Multnomah Athletic Club Toastmasters and the
Portland Junior Chamber of Commerce.
George holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Portland State
University, where he was selected for membership in the Beta
Gamma Sigma honor society, was an officer of the Beta Alpha
Psi accounting fraternity, and held leadership positions in
several student organizations. George was born in Montreal,
is fluent in French and lives with his wife and daughters
in Tigard.
