In 1933, Virgil DeLap set out to create an accounting firm based on the principal that the best way to succeed in business was to serve his clients the way he would expect to be served by providing accurate reports, timely information and proactive business consulting advice.

Virgil’s strategy worked so well that he was able to expand his practice, bring his son, Vern, and eventually his grandson, Dave, into the partnership. The strategies learned during the nearly 75 years that DWCC has been in business have provided assistance and insight into the unique opportunities and challenges that many closely held and family-owned businesses experience each and every day.

With this background, DWCC became a corporate sponsor of the Austin Family Business Awards Program in 2001. The Austin Family Business Program is part of Oregon State University’s business program and serves the needs of family-owned businesses in the Pacific Northwest through advanced business research, seminars, workshops, lectures and family business coaching.
